My "Kids" at the Fair

Rose and Caleb have written all the other posts but I, Robin, am taking a moment to tell the world that I have two great "kids" too. Here they are standing in front of the corn maze at the Washington County Ag Expo Fair July 2008. The same fair that Daisy and the baby goats were shown in.

Caleb had such a great time with the maze (he and I did it first) that he literally drug Rose away from her goats for Rose to experience the maze. We also loved watching the cows being milked, Rose and her guinea pigs did wunderbar again this year - and generally we just enjoyed the fair very much.

We pray that you enjoyed God's nature and creations this summer and will continue to do so in the fall.

Daisy and the Babies at the Fair

Daisy and Lily and Hudson were at the fair the end of July. Here is some of Rose's musings - In the morning, they got feed. Here, Daisy and Lily are sharing the red bucket. Hudson is eating out of the green bucket. Hudson loves to a escape when I open the door. Lily loves to jump on the rock when I let her. Daisy likes to stay inside and eat hay. She doesn't mind if she stays inside the pen.

Daisy won Grand Champion for Toggenbergs and the judge also mentioned that she was a close second for Best of Show. We were all proud of Daisy! Rose can't wait to show her goats at the fair next year.

What a Great Two Weeks!

Rose's favorite memories of the twins are when they are playing together. She says, "Lily and Hudson dash around the barn and go back into the stall. After only a few seconds, they ran out again very fast and they jump on the boat. Before you know it, they ran to their Mommy and jump on her tummy and bounce backwards."

Robin's favorite memories so far are how the goats communicate so well with each. One time when she was watching them the babies came out of the stall and ventured a little farther than their mother, Daisy, wanted. She called for them and lickity split - they came running back to the safety of the stall. However, curious Hudson stuck out his head and made his high-pitched call to his Mom as if to say, "Mom, do I have to stay cooped out in this stall all the time?" The twins cautiously ventured out again but whenever Daisy wants them or they want Daisy they truly "talk" to one another.

Caleb's favorite moments are when Daisy and the twins are together. It was so fun to see the birth of Daisy's babies. And when they came out, Daisy started licking their bottoms. She did this so they wouldn't get diarrhea. From the start they begin to communicate. High-pitched "maas" and low-pitched "maas" came from everywhere. It was so fun to see them talking. After they were a week old, they began running with their mother. It was really really super to see them running across the field with Mom.

The Girls together and the Boys together....

Caleb is holding Hudson. Caleb says, "He is so cute. It was fun to see when he came out of the birth canal."

Rose is holding Lily. Rose says, "She is fun to hold. I have noticed that she likes playing with Hudson, her brother."

The Twin Kids are Here....

Introducing Daisy's two new babies. We are so delighted. Born at approx. 4:45 AM, May 28, weighing at approx. 10 lb. is brother, Hudson and 6+ lb. sister, Lily. The whole family witnessed and assisted with the birth and wow! what a wonderful experience. Momma, Daisy, and the kids are doing well. More words and memories forthcoming....

Goat Happenings

The real beginnings of our goat happenings was when Daisy joined our gang. This is a picture of baby Daisy, April 2007, she is not quite two months old. You can compare this with the pictures above of Daisy now more than a year old and her two new babies.
