No more pictures to post but just want to say that Monday and Tuesday were equally fun and eventful. Monday, Rob took off work and we drove all the way around the southern tip of the island after we started the day with a couple of wonderful hours of snorkeling in Piti Bomb Holes area. Can't wait to get some of these pictures to show -- the Frohnes even have an underwater camera. Later in Inaraja - we swam in a salt-water swimming pool, a protected area, while nearby outside the coral walls the surf dashed and crashed. A very exquisite spot! At the end of the day returned to the Frohnes' apartment with an apparent overload of Vitamin D but heh -- we're not in deficit! Tuesday we squeezed in a full day at a local waterpark with the Guam SDA friends (who got us the local price instead of the tourist price) before our 7:30 PM flight took us to Manila thru Koror, Palau. Overall -- a full but wonderful start to our mission trip adventure to follow. God is so good!

Sunday we headed out early to hike into the Talofofo watering hole and falls. Needless to say, after finding the watering hole, we never made it to the falls. Roger and family stayed with us through lunch and then they headed off for a Chuukese New Year type celebration and the Frohnes and the Froelichs played until late in the afternoon and then hiked out. There are so many pictures I could post here but here is just a few for you to enjoy -- this proves all you really need for true entertainment is water, a rope, and an opportunity to be in God's natural wonders.

"This was one of the best Sabbaths I've ever had!" exclaimed Caleb when we were reflecting on our visit to Guam. I can't think of a better review than that. Friday evening we spent at Roger and Amy's home and then headed off to their home church, a new church plant of local Guam residents and Chuukese residents called the "Happy Family" church. And they were indeed one happy family! They meet under large tarps but still with A/V and Powerpoint support to make voices audible and the flow of the service consistent. Young people led out and when Sabbath School classes broke out - there was one in English, one in Chamorro, one in Chuukese and a variety of children's Sabbath School classes too. Araya's red hair was a fascination and everyone enjoyed hearing Rose, Caleb, Araya and William sing special music. The pot luck meal afterward was full of American and local fare. While Amy took a Chuukese friend home, Roger toured us all on the local beaches full of blue water and white beaches. In the evening, we all headed to a wonderful group party hosted by Dr. Robinson and family. The house was a bee hive of those from the Guam SDA Mission, Clinic and AWR facility. Caleb played outside with those in an active game of soccer and Rose stayed inside with those who were acting out all types of words and phrases. The OB/GYN physician brought the group down with laughter when he acted out his rendition of a women in "stirrups". You can imagine this yourself!

On Friday, our adventures started after lunch with Roger at Guam Adventist Academy so we could include Rob and Richard on our hike to Talofofo Caves. Amy lead us down the jungle trail and before you knew it, we were going through the opening in the rocks and discovering the wonders under the ground. The smaller ones of the group shimmied out the tiny opening and ran around to enter the cave and start it all over again. The cave with the wind tunnel was really neat -- to feel the rush of the wind from the beach and later to go out and see the incredible view of the beach.

The third day we went to a beach near the tall hotels and the Japanese tourists that was known for beautiful snorkeling. However, the weather wasn't with us; so don't even have many pictures. William and another friend, the veteran snorkelers, battled the aggressive current and reported seeing some good fish but the others of us (even my Caleb was conservative and didn't go out too far) huddled on the beach and tried to stay dry as the sun and the rain switched places back and forth many times during the day. Still the day was fun as we played with other wonderful SDA Christians and friends in Guam.

Our second full day in Guam, Richard accompanied Rob to work. Barbara and I took the clan of kids - Araya, William, Rose, Caleb, Nathan and Alyssa up to a tour of AWR later in the morning while Amy helped a local Chuukese family. After the tour we stopped by the Powers home and played around with their two children in the backyard behind the AWR property. Later, we met Amy at the beach and played together for a bit and later in the afternoon we split up into two groups -- Barbara, Araya and Rose doing some shopping -- and Amy, myself, Caleb, Nathan and Alyssa went to a local Chuukese family where Amy holds a mid-week branch Sabbath School. The small group of children loved the songs and stories that we brought to them.

After arriving in the evening, we headed for the Frohnes' apartment near Agat. Rob Frohne is in Guam on sabbatical from Walla Walla University for three months to help Adventist World Radio, AWR, build a special radio filter. Rose and Caleb stayed in the twin beds that Araya and William normally slept on and Richard and Robin cozied down on a great futon mattress that had been borrowed from the Chief Engineer, Mr. Powers, at AWR. Araya slept in the room with her Mom and Dad and William bunked it on the couch in the large living room, dining room, kitchen combo room. It was tight but we so enjoyed being together that it worked just fine. The next day, everyone, sans the two working Dads, Rob Frohne and Roger Krum, headed for the National Park, War in the Pacifics museum. This museum had just been completed redesigned and constructed within the last year and was truly interactive and informative. I had no idea that so many local Guam natives were massacred by the Japanese. I also didn't know that a number of soldiers hid in caves for years and only surfaced long after the war was over. Look that one up!! After a picnic lunch, we headed to the Agat Beach and tried our hand at swimming and snorkeling. Just good clean fun and the beginning of our first "sunburn". We experienced the local fruit and vegetable market and bought "long beans", bread fruit, and some other special greens. William got his coveted jackfruit and when Rob returned home from AWR, he went back to the market to buy even more jackfruit. The two Frohne men are jackfruit fanatics.

Looking back over our posts, we haven't been avid "bloggers" but this trip demands a need for us to communicate to many of you dear friends so we are adding some pictures and comments for you to enjoy. We spent eight wonderful days in Guam visiting with our relatives - Roger (Robin's cousin) and Amy Krum and children, Nathan and Alyssa and our friends - Rob (Richard's roommate at Walla Walla) and Barbara Frohne and children, Araya and William. The kids had a ball! Barbara and Amy planned many fun day outings for our family and the SDA community in Guam even hosted a wonderful Saturday evening party for us. When I asked, they stated that any reason to have a party is worth it! Here are just a few of the photos and memories from Guam.
